Dancers' Names: Dom & Hannah Misiano

About Dom & Hannah

My name is Hannah Misiano. I am married to Dom Misiano. I was born in 1913 in New York City. My mother was in love with the stage, so from very young age she pushed me and my sister to appear in vaudeville. We danced at the Palace Theater. That was a great place to be. Dom and I met in the act – we were both in love with the dance and with each other. Unfortunately, great things do not last forever. The cinema has really become a great competition to life performing. It is eating our wages away. Dom and I decided to see if we can adapt to this change and try to make it to Hollywood. I dream to direct! What a career for a woman this will be! We are transitioning our life right now to the West. The shows with Mick will not only literally take us West, but they will also give us the chance to perform in front of the eyes of theatrical agents from all over the country. This is our third marathon. Actually, we were even lucky to be hired as professional performers to compete in this marathon, which provides for more stable income. We also earn some extra money in the quick competitions of waltz, foxtrot and rumba. Even though our being here is just an act and we have no illusions about the $2,000 prize, we can’t help being affected by the enthusiasm of the contestants and the atmosphere overall. The glamour of the Steel Pier in Atlantic City starts a new life for us, away from the Depression. This difficult time affected us too, just like it did so many others. My father, a banker, suffered great losses, as his business dried. The marathon takes its toll. I do not have the stamina that is required to make the hundreds of hours – my body cannot take it. Dom – he is a great support. He can last longer. I crave to be out of the marathons and be in Hollywood. I love the beauty of dancing and acting, not the sport it has become or the sprints they make us do. My dream for us is to meet our luck within a few more contests, before my body gives in.

The roles of Dom and Hannah Misiano will be played by Jeff Salisbury and Denitza Gintcheva.
